A few words about me and why I am so exicited to be creating this site – I have found after a long search a 3D animation software package, IllusionMage, that is ‘blowing my socks off’. I really think at this stage (and it’s early yet) … the this could be the best 3D Software package … including great tutorials etc that I have had the privilege to be able to afford!
I’ve been interested in computers since almost the advent of ‘popular’ computing – way before PC’s and Mac’s were on the market. Way back when in the U.K. when Clive Sinclair was Clive Sinclair not ‘Sir Clive Sinclair’ the ZX80 & ZX81 were launched, followed seemingly quickly by the now famous ZX Spectrum. I used to avidly program all of these models – but the spectrum had ‘for the time’ innovative graphics and colour and you program your own games which moved … amazing.
Fast forward a few (too many) years and the world of computing, graphics, photography, video has changed beyond all recognition. To a great extent ‘convergence’ of these technologies is breaking down the old demarcations and making my world a really fun place to be in. I have crafted a living from ‘commercial’ aka boring old computing – and also developed a real affinity for the ‘still’ image and editing thereof – but doing a video recording session of family & friends never – really grabbed me – though have dutifully produced the standard ‘Family’ classics all nicely edited accordingly.
BUT what I’ve really hankered for is the ultimate 3D animation package (at a price that I could stretch to) – so that inspired by some great classics – Toy Story, Finding Nemo etc I could create my own reality. Being both a Sci-Fi and a Wallace & Grommit fan (o.k. I’m not going to do plasticine but a computer version ??).
I think I’ve found it … I will be giving at a good ‘play’ over the next few weeks and will post to the main blog how its going …
